How to get an Ontario Marriage Licence:

• Ontario Marriage Licences are issued only to the bride and groom

• Both parties must sign the Ontario Marriage Licence Application

• Two pieces of government-issued identification are required by all applicants applying for the marriage licence. One peice of identification must include your photo. (Examples include: an original birth certificate, valid passport, record of immigrant landing, Canadian citizenship card, valid driver's licence)

• The licence fee in Ontario vary depending on the municipality

• If you have been divorced within Canada, you will need one of the following - the original or court certified copy of the Certificate of Divorce, the final decree, or the final judgement

• If you were divorced outside of Canada, please request foreign divorce instructions

• Sixteen and seventeen year olds require both parents consent (Please see license issuer for proper form)

• A marriage licence in Ontario is valid for 90 days from issue date
